Amanda Bobbsey is an recurring character in The CW's 2019 television series, Nancy Drew. She is portrayed by Aadila Dosani.
Character[]
One half of the Bobbsey Twins, Amanda is charming, but possesses a manic energy and street smarts as a result of growing up poor and on the wrong side of the tracks. Often resorting to petty crimes with her twin brother, Amanda puts herself and her twin above everyone and everything else.[2]
History[]
Amanda grew up in Horseshoe Bay, Maine alongside her younger twin brother Gil. When she was four, she was scared of the monsters under her bed and went to her mom for support in the middle of the night. Rosemary gave her a sketch of a Burning Thing and claimed that was the only monster to be afraid of, but promised to never let it find them. When the twins were six, their father Bertram was arrested and placed into county prison for six months. The kids were left in the care of their mother, Rosemary Bobbsey, who was mercurial but often forgot to buy them shoes. She would go for walks at a trail but return in time to pick them up from school.
One day, Rosemary stopped coming to pick up her children and the police opened an investigation. They found signs of a struggle in the woods and believed she had been murdered by Eddie Collins, whom she was having an affair with. They never found her body so they never pressed charges. Gil and Amanda were placed into their fathers care upon his release from prison. Bertram worked as the groundskeeper at The Hudson Lodge, and told Amanda and Gil stories about an ancient mirror. He claimed the mirror was used by a Hudson ancestor who summoned the Aglaeca alongside five other women in white. Bertram was later arrested and imprisoned while the twins went into the foster care system. Gil and Amanda became petty criminals and thieves, with nearly identical arrest records.
Plot summary[]
Nancy is sought out by Detective Abe Tamura who wants her to identify the body of a comatose girl whose last words were Nancy Drew. She doesn't recognize the woman but wonders if the girl was attacked by the Gorham Wraith, a vengeful spirit who feeds on people’s fears on the full moon. She clutches the girl’s hand hoping she gets better. Tamura cryptically remarks that he does too and that his answers line up with Nancy’s. When Nancy leaves she looks at her hand, which has copied the numbers on the girl’s hand. She sends a picture to Ace for him to analyze. He learns it’s an encrypted thread chain written to Nancy. The girl, now identified as Amanda Bobbsey, had a mirror that can be used against the Aglaeca and wanted to meet in the woods for payment.
In a barn in the woods, Nancy and the Drew Crew a phone and a vile of a sealed medication. The phone features several videos between Amanda, and her twin brother Gil. In the video, Amanda hears someone behind her and is grabbed from behind. The Crew thinks the thing that grabbed her was the Wraith and the pump Amanda spoke of is for Gil's diabetes. They are able to save Gil who had been attacked by the wraith, retrieve the mirror in exchange for payment, and reunite Gil with Amanda. When they return to the hospital Amanda has awakened from her coma and is talking happily with her brother.[3]

At the Breaker Hotel the next morning, Ace stops by to see if Amanda’s computer is running well. She asks if Nancy gets what she needs.
