History[]

Everett is the second-born son of a powerful Hudson man, who founded Hudson Enterprises and laid it out like a monarchy. His two sons, Josiah and Everett, were set to the inherit the family company and fortunate with a 50/50 division. Josiah struggled with alcoholism his entire young adult life, while Everett's extreme lust for greed and power drove him. On October 8, 1981, a young Everett found Josiah in the woods drunk and picked a fight. They brothers fought viscously though Everett gained the upper hand and choked his brother to death. He then concocted a story that Josiah had disappeared in the woods, presumed dead of exposure due to his alcoholism. Everett inherited the entirety of the company upon his father's death.

In his later years, Everett married heiress Celia and signed a prenuptial agreement that if she were ever murdered, he would forfeit his claim to her estate. The couple had one son, Ryan, who had trouble with bullies in grade school. Everett tried to teach his son self-defense, though when one of his punches slipped it made Ryan cry. Everett called him weak and pathetic. He believed Ryan wasn't capable of defending himself and paid the bullies family to transfer schools. As the years passed, Everett frequently placed documents in front of Ryan and instructed him to sign them. Ryan, being an underage child, didn't bother to read them before he signed. Everett had secretly built a slush fund in his sons name to launder and transfer money that he used in the illegitimate side of his business.

In the late nineties, the Hudson family's long-standing feud with their rivals the Marvin's was set to finally come to an end. The two companies had a joint venture together, with the head of the family at the time, Sebastian Marvin, accompanying a ship set to escort ancient artifacts. The artifacts would have given both families millions and guaranteed financial success. Before the ship, known as the Bonny Scot, departed, Everett and his wife Celia attended a masquerade ball where Lucy Sable witnessed Celia's affair with Sebastian. Everett learned of the affair and arranged for explosive devices to be placed on the Bonny Scot, as he hoped to kill Sebastian and their deal. He forged documents to make it appear as though the ship mysteriously sank, killing twelve crew members, including Sebastian Marvin. Everett had already arranged for the artifacts to be delivered before the Bonny Scot sunk. While unable to sell the artifacts, Everett was still profited off the loss thanks to to the insurance money.

After the incident, Everett refocused his energy on stopping his son, Ryan, from dating townee Lucy Sable. He discovered their secret relationship and tried to blackmail Lucy into ending things, and when she refused, he made her life miserable. He made sure Lucy's mother lost her job, had her private scholarships revoked ruining her chances of going to college, and spread vicious rumors about her. He then sent Lucy a devastating email claiming to be Ryan. The email called her a "whore'" who he "hoped would die".

One fateful day, Everett followed Lucy home where he learned of her pregnancy. He warned that if she had the baby, both Lucy and the child would be over. He assumed the problem was taken care of when Lucy died that night, allegedly having been murdered.

She approaches Everett to request he pull some strings to get her father out of jail, but Everett requests that she look into Owen Marvin in return for his services. He wants to know everything that Owen has about the Bonny Scot. She returns and interrupts a dinner between Everett and the Marvin's, to tell him about the sole survivor of the Bonny Scot. The Marvin's and Hudson's confront each other. Celia Hudson says the insurance payout was pennies compared to what they lost from Sebastian's death, but Diana Marvin suggests that Everett acted in revenge because Celia and Sebastian were having an affair. Nancy tells Everett about the evidence, and he offers a green card and a retirement package for Bashiir to "make this go away". He transfers the money to Bashiir's account. Seconds later, Lisbeth and the police arrive to arrest him as Nancy made a sting operation with them. Nancy remembers the dripping blood from the Hudson's painting and discovers a secret compartment with an envelope containing Lucy's missing guidance counselor file, confirming that Everett stole the papers.[1]

Nancy and Ryan continue to investigate the death of Lucy Sable, starting with going to the ice cream parlor that he and Lucy were supposed to meet on the night Lucy died. They talk to the owner, who recalls that when Lucy left, a car with an eagle ornament was following her. Ryan realizes it was his father's car. The two then confront Everett, who admits that he talked with Lucy the night she died; he says he left Lucy at her house and saw her fight with her friend, Karen Hart. Nancy later learns that Everett was blackmailing Lucy to breakup with Ryan, as he knew about her pregnancy and warned that if she had the baby both of their lives would be ruined. He also was responsible for Patrice losing her job, the rumors about Lucy, and Lucy's eventual depression that led her to want to commit suicide. Nancy learns from Carson that Lucy had her baby before she died. Lucy entrusted the baby to Carson and Katherine Drew, who decided to raise the baby as their own - naming her Nancy Drew.[2]

Season 2[]

Everett finds Nancy, Bess, and Ace at the lodge in the woods, which is owned by the Hudson Family Trust. He is having a mysterious meeting with a group of wealthy men. He has the trio taken to the basement which Bess fears is where he kills people. Everett expertly dodges all of their questions especially when Ace and Bess use the opportunity to accuse him of being a murderer. Everett remarks on Nancy’s quietness, to which she blames it on wondering about his secret council. He asks what they’re doing there just as Ryan enters claiming to have invited her. Ryan claims he wanted to thank Nancy for finding the truth about Lucy Sable. He thought it deserved a conversation and some money. Everett is suspicious about meeting in the middle of the night, but Ryan has an explanation for all of Everett’s suspicions. Everett lets them all go but stops Ryan to tell him that he needs to apologize to everyone upstairs when he gets back, but Ryan doesn’t feel inclined to apologize to his next group of suits involved in Everett’s new business venture. Everett reminds Ryan that their fortunes are tied, so if he goes down, so does Ryan.[3]

Following his release from prison, Everett seeks help from Nancy in locating who his former accountant, Howard Driscoll, leaked confidential information too. Nancy reluctantly agreed to help as a way to win back Everett's trust in preparation for her and Celia's reveal. As she worked on the case, it became clear to her that Everett didn't know who Howard was leaking information too but did know what the information was. Meanwhile, Ryan, Valentina Samuels, and Ned Nickerson work together in locating a video called "The Black Crown tape" that allegedly shows Everett murdering someone. They learn from the Hudson's former groundskeeper that Everett tried various methods of destroying the tape, though it always reappeared intact. Their information leads them to the Hudson mausoleum, as the tape might be buried in one of the tombs.

Nancy realizes that Everett planted a trap to expose the source, but she doesn't arrive at the family mausoleum in time to stop Ryan and Valentina from breaking into the crypt and exposing themselves to the cameras. Nancy hurries to the family party that evening to speak with Celia, as she hopes Celia will convince Everett to spare Ryan's life. It is here that she finds Celia's corpse and emotionally realizes that Everett killed Celia for lying, as he already knows their secret. Everett sees the footage of Val and Ryan and orders his guards to "take care of" Valentina while he speaks with Ryan. He climbs into a limo where Nancy waits for him. She stoically states that he shouldn't be worried about Val or Ryan, since she's the biggest threat to him as his granddaughter. She uses a taser to incapacitate and kidnap him.[4]
