Hudson Enterprises is a multi-billion dollar company in Nancy Drew. The company founded by Ira Hudson with the intentions of the company being run like a monarchy. The company has since flourished in profit but is often shrouded in mystery and off-book dealings, earning the company an unmistakable darkness.

History[]

Founded in an unknown year by Ira Hudson, Mr. Hudson's intentions for the company was for the corporate rankings to be run monarchial. He laid out the legalities of the company in his final will and testament. When Mr. Hudson died, he passed the company onto his two sons Everett and Josiah with the intention of it being split between them 50/50. When Josiah died from alcoholism, Everett inherited 100% of the company.

Under Everett's reign, the company continued to flourish but also began to dwell in the dark aspects of wealth. He partnered with the Hudson's long-standing rivals, both corporate and personal, the Marvin's. Their business dealings abruptly ended when the ship carrying ancient artifacts, which would have guaranteed both businesses financial benefit, sank and killed twelve crew members and the Marvin escort Sebastian. Everett and Hudson Enterprises were able to obtain the insurance money for the sunken artifacts, though Nancy Drew would later learn the artifacts were never onboard.[1]

Years later Everett's son Ryan learned of his father's misdealing's and began a coup to overthrow his father. However, his Grandfathers clause explicitly laid out the ramifications of such a deed. If Everett were to die the company would go to Ryan, unless he triggers the forfeiture clause by making a move against Hudson Enterprises or its CEO, in which case Ryan would be cut-off entirely and the company goes to his heir. However, his illegitimate child Nancy wants nothing more than to dismantle Hudson Enterprises, putting her in direct danger with Everett if he were to learn of her existence. To save Nancy, Ryan pretends to gain his fathers trust and is named Community Outreach Director of Hudson Enterprises.[2]

Ryan being named the community outreach director earned him media attention and an interview with esteemed reported Valentina Samuels. Nick warns Ryan that Valentina is persistent in her research and questioning, a fact that is proven true when she brings up the sinking of the Bonny Scot and Everett's impending murder trial. Ryan is able to dodge the questions by saying that he wants to show the positive side of the company for a change, and invites her to the towns Hunt & Roast. Valentina pushes that she spoke to Patrice Dodd who believes that Lucy had a child with Ryan, who would then inherit control of Hudson Enterprises.[3]
