They are one of the founding families of Horseshoe Bay, Maine, and have a strong presence in the small town. They are billionaires and best known for their multi-million dollar company, Hudson Enterprises, which thrives on less-than-ethical means. The current patriarch of the family is Everett Hudson, with other notable members being Ryan Hudson and his daughter, Nancy Drew.
History[]
The Hudsons are one of the founding families of Horseshoe Bay, Maine, having arrived in the town aboard a ship named The Governance along with another family named the Marvin's. The Governance was captained by Douglas Marvin, who had on board several guests, including Reverend Hudson and French businesswoman and heiress, Odette Lamar. Douglas coveted Odette's wealth and decided to murder her to obtain it. He partnered with his friend Reverend Hudson in the scheme. Together, they murdered Odette, shaving her head and sacrificing her to the sea. Odette's death was painful as seaweed wrapped around her throat and she eventually drowned. The men forged a marriage certificate so her finances would transfer to Douglas. They than used Odette's wealth to found Horseshoe Bay.
They crafted a story that Odette had a whirlwind romance with Captain Marvin leading to their impulsive married. She than tragically died of consumption, known later as tuberculosis, before they reached land. Odette was recorded in history and remembered by her peers in this manner. Captain Marvin stole Odette's belongings, including her favored ruby necklace, and re-gifted them to his second wife Agnes Marvin. Agnes noticed Douglas' vivid nightmares where he was tortured over the sin he committed against Odette. Agnes found Odette's love letters to an English woman and pieced together what her husband had done. She confessed her knowledge to Reverend Hudson, unaware that they were partners in the crime. Douglas and Hudson made everyone believe Agnes was mad and imprisoned her in the cellar of the Marvin cottage where she later died.
In the 1800s, Temperance Hudson[1] was among four other women in white who summoned Odette Lamar, who was known at the time as the sea creature the Aglaeca, to ask her for a favor. The mirror that Temperance used in the summoning ritual was safeguarded by the future generations of The Hudson family. It was later gifted to Temperance's descendant Nancy Drew to help her defeat the Aglaeca in Fall 2019. Temperance was also involved with a wedding dress that trapped women's desires and their lust inside of it, acting as a net to keep the women chaste until their wedding day.
The Hudson line began to change when Ira Hudson founded a company that helped solidify the Hudson's finances. He established Hudson Enterprises with the intention of it being run as a monarchy, with power being handed down to his two sons Everett and Josiah, upon his death. Everett was the second-born son of the powerful Hudson man, set to the inherit the family company and fortune with a 50/50 division with Josiah. Josiah struggled with alcoholism his entire young adult life, while Everett's extreme lust for greed and power drove him. On October 8, 1981, a young Everett found Josiah drunk in the woods and picked a fight. They brothers fought viscously though Everett gained the upper hand and choked his brother to death. He then concocted a story that Josiah had disappeared in the woods, presumed dead of exposure due to his alcoholism.
After Josiah and Mr. Hudson died, Everett inherited the company its entirety. He also married wealthy socialite Celia Hudson and they had one child together, Ryan. Under Everett's rule over Hudson Enterprises, the long-standing rivalry between the Hudson's and the Marvin's soured. This was furthered when Sebastian Marvin, the head of the Marvin family at the time, and twelve crew members died on a sunken Hudson ship. While unable to prove foul play, the Marvin's correctly believed that Everett had sunk the ship in retaliation for Sebastian's affair with Everett's wife, Celia.
Everett's child Ryan grew up in Horseshoe Bay, Maine, and had a reputation for being a playboy. In his teen years, Ryan dated Lucy Sable and unknowingly conceived a daughter with her. Due to Everett's disdain for Lucy, he forced Ryan and her to break up so she subsequently never told him about her pregnancy. She died on August 31, 2000, after falling to her deaths near the bluffs. Unknown to anyone, Carson and Katherine Drew were present as they helped Lucy deliver her daughter. Lucy made the Drew's promise to protect her daughter from the Hudson's moments before her death. Carson and Katherine honored her wishes by raising the daughter, whom they named Nancy, as their own child. Ryan, in the meantime, graduated college and went on to marry wealthy socialite Tiffany Tandy.

- Additionally, Ryan's high school girlfriend Lucy Sable met a tragic death after giving birth to Nancy.
- All three women later returned as spirits to visit Nancy Drew. Nancy also worked to solve each of their murders.
