Keenan has been Nick's councilor presumably since Nick's release from prison. They have been meeting regularly for counseling session.
Plot summary
Keenan meets with Nick for their final court-ordered appointment. He lightly suggests Nick go back to his family in Florida, but Nick doesn't want to face his family. He suggests Nick "quit looking in the rear view mirror."[1]
