Frank & Joe Hardy are the main characters in the Hardy Boys franchise. On several occasions, Nancy Drew encounters and solves mysteries with them. In the original Nancy Drew novels, Nancy was connected to the Hardy brothers because a close friend of hers, Karen Young, was a cousin-in-law of the Hardy Boys (Karen was the daughter of a sibling of Janet Hardy, who was married to the Hardy Boy's father's brother).

The Hardys also interacted with Nancy in certain episodes of The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. In the 1995 television series, Nancy guest stars in two episodes of The Hardy Boys series.
